The Boker M4 Sherman-Damascus is a remarkable piece of living history that blends exceptional craftsmanship with historical materials. This American M4 Sherman tank, which was initially designed in 1940, is still regarded as one of the most famous tanks in history. Produced between 1942 and 1945, it remained in service until 1957 and was utilized on various battlefields of World War II by the United States, Canada, Great Britain, the Free French Forces, China, and even the Soviet Union. Originally intended to replace the M3 Grant/Lee medium tank, the Sherman's primary mission was to support infantry, lead attacks, and reinforce defensive positions. With close to 50,000 units built, this tank was the most widely used of the Allies during World War II.
The Boker Sherman-Damascus knife features a unique damascus blade with 80 layers, forged from materials from actual M4 Sherman tanks that have been restored by the Americans in Wartime Museum in Virginia. The handmade damascus pattern, created by Chad Nichols in the Customized Ladder pattern, pays homage to the tank tracks left by the M4 Sherman. The ball bearing blade, opened by a thumb stud and locked by a solid steel frame lock, includes a Hinderer Lock-Stop for overstretch protection. Handcrafted in the Boker knife manufactory in Solingen, Germany, the overall shape of the knife pays tribute to the aesthetic lines of the armor, with a decorative blade axle screw modeled after the characteristic main drive sprocket. The burlap micarta handle, colored to resemble the camouflage paint used by the U.S. Army and Marine Corps, offers a comfortable grip. Each knife comes with a lanyard hole and a practical deep carry clip (tip-up/r), as well as a noble floating display, certificate of authenticity, and individual serial number.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each knife goes to support educational programs and the care and preservation of American military history through the Americans in Wartime Museum, a non-profit institution dedicated to honoring those who have served in the U.S. military and on the home front. The museum aims to educate the public, especially young people, by sharing personal stories, war realities, and sacrifices made in the struggle to preserve freedom and liberties. Visitors can experience military vehicles, explore artifacts, and participate in reenactments and special programs in a dynamic, interactive environment.
Forged with history and made from recovered M4 tanks from World War II, the Boker M4 Sherman-Damascus knife is a true tribute to one of the most famous tanks in history. The unique 80 layer Damascus blade, crafted by hand by Chad Nichols, features a ladder Damascus pattern that is reminiscent of the tank tracks left in the ground by the heavy chains of the M4. The sturdy and grippy Micarta handles, along with the Hinderer Lock-Stop, add to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the knife. Handmade in Solingen, Germany, each knife comes with a floating display, certificate of authenticity, and individual serial number.
